By David Jackemeyer
Used since July 2011.Cons:Only up-gradable to Android 2.1photo quality is typically low; tried camera advance app too, which adds some features but still low resolutionbattery life is 2-days w/ my normal usehangs too often for a 2010 modelTexting via screen is problematic, fairly inefficient, even with Skype (when it used to be supported)Hands-free headset is cumbersome, but I have gotten used to it.Android Market worked for awhile, but when Google Play was introduced, this was not supported.Android Market has failed to work for 3months.still have not found a great way to clip it to pants or my person, but this may be a smartfone issue in general.Pros:GPS is fast and consistent, as long as GPS is only app running.WiFi has performed well (browser, youtube, streaming video)Video camera is low-end quality, but is easy to usemusic player (mp3, wma, aac) becomes easier to use with time...plenty of microSD card space (16GB, in my case, 32GB max is claimed)Bluetooth to vehicle's audio deck works wonderfully.Talk time is excellent -- I once enjoyed a 4hr conversation, and still had ~50% battery :)Google Sync (contacts) has been awesome.Never drops calls (AT&T service)Excellent antennae.W/ Garmin Portable Friction Mount (see reviews -- awesome!) is very handy in car (Jeep Cherokee)Lightweight, slim600 MHZ processor OKThis was my first Smartfone -- I'm still not sure if the change was worth the money, but I'm still squeezing out uses and finding new improved efficiencies...David

I ordered this unlocked Garmin Asusfone to try it out. I am really satisfied with this, I hope the manufacturer can make more new version. The satellite GPS is free to use without subscribing extra data plan.

Garminfone has been exactly what I was looking for. A Phone first, a GPS nav system second, and the capability to use the web and apps a distant third. Battery was disappointing, would only hold a charge for 2 days (I do not use the phone phone that much), so I installed a new battery ($8) and it is now useable for 5 days between charges. Was disappointed with Big City Communications (store I bought the phone from) in that they listed the phone as "Brand New", but it was not... phone was immaculate..... but had 238 contacts in its memory, the micro SD card was missing, display box was crushed and had scotch tape holding it together, battery had visible wear indicators on it. Big City insisted it was brand new, too much effort to return and search for a new one, so I kept it, have been very happy with the Garminfone.
