4Great phone with not so great battery life
By VS
PROS: Hardware, screen, ICS, HTC Sense (yes I think it is a pro!), cameraCONS: Battery life, no replaceable battery option, missing dedicated search keyRecommendation: If you are ready to compromise on the battery life then this is a definite BUY from meTo be fair, I knew what I was getting into when I bought this phone. Excellent hardware as long as you don't count battery as part of the hardware! On very basic usage like talking, texting and moderate browsing and with the screen brightness set to auto, you can probably get about 8 hours of battery life out of this. But with about 45 mins of Pandora, push email, games and basically the things the phone is actually meant to be used for, you will find yourself charging it twice in 8 hours. My average battery life on fair amount of phone usage come to about 6 hours. This includes about an hour of actual phone calls, some online chatting, about an hour of pandora and few games in between to kill time. But enough about the problems. The phone has lots of good stuff going for it.The screen is just brilliant. I will not get into the tech specs of it, but as an end user, I like what I see when it is displayed on this screen. The camera is fast as promised though I still feel it takes a little longer to launch than I would have liked it to. Once launched, the picture clicking is fast and smooth. As you may have read elsewhere, the camera is good, but don't throw away your SLRs or point & shoots just yet.The phone is fast and there is no doubt about it. I have done fair amount of multi-tasking on it and it did not seem to have an adverse effect on the performance. But I do like the ability to be able to actually close each app unlike earlier versions of Android. My one gripe with the design is the elimination of the dedicated search button at the bottom. I don't know why it was done away with as it was really useful and I am not saying that just because I had gotten used to it on my HTC Desire HD.I like the uni-body design except for the fact that now I dont even have the choice to replace the battery. Not that I did so with my old phone, but that was mainly due to lack of tech support from HTC while trying to get the right battery.I know people have been complaining about the 'limited' 32 GB of which only 26 GB is actually available with no option to expand. Personally, it is enough space for me. I do not intend to store and watch HD movies on a phone, even if it has a 4.7 inch screen.I also like that the phone came with a 25 GB dropbox account. It seamlessly connected with my existing dropbox account and simply added the additional space to my existing account. HTC Sense has a lot of integration with drop box, such as the ability to attach files in an email from your dropbox folder by sending a short url in the mail (mind you this is different then the standard option of 'Sharing' your dropbox file via email). However, this drop box integration exists only when you use the native Email app and not the Gmail app (whats up with that google?). Frankly, while google is doing a lot of great things, it needs to get its act together on integration and support of its own products. I have seen a trend that new google products are better supported by third party apps than google itself (for the longest time google docs worked much better on IE than google chrome!).Face unlock is cool but a novelty and not so much of a utility. I would have called it a utility if I did not need to press the power on button to first wake up the phone, then slide the HTC Sense lock screen to unlock the phone before even reaching the face unlock screen. There is a reason it is featured under the security tab.I am still playing with the phone and will update this review at a later date with more information.Update1: HTC released an OTA update yesterday which is said to improve the battery life along with other minor bug fixes. Today was the first day of use with the new update. The phone shows a remaining batter life of little over 50% where as in the past it would be between 30-40% by this time of the day. I will post an update after playing with it over the weekend.

5The King of Android (for now)
By Kneginja
PROS: GORGEOUS screen, fast, beautiful design, Ice Cream Sandwich, HTC Sense, Camera.CONS: Battery duration, and that it is non-removable (unibody). So yes, as most people mentioned already, the only disadvantage I see on this phone is battery duration... a lot of people already reviewed the phone quite well here, so I'll just focus on this matter. Until a few days ago, I would've rated the phone 4 stars, but I downloaded a couple of apps: Advance Task Killer and Green Power PRO. Once you tweek Green Power Pro and use ATK often enough, your battery duration will dramatically increase about 40%. And now I can go through a day of normal use (social networks, e-mails, calls, listening to music) and by night I still have around 40% of charge, which is awesome. So if you're discouraged about the battery duration, know that there's a way around it. And now the phone is absolutely 5 stars for me.NOTE: People from Mexico: YES, you can use this phone with ANY carrier (Telcel, Movistar, Iusacell), as long as it is this version, the international one. It won't work with the LTE one (AT&T).Hope this info helps to all undecided, cheers.

3Unlocked phone with T-Mobile branding??
By Travis
I ordered up and paid a hefty fee for what was advertised as an unlocked international version of the HTC One X. Global Mobiles sent me an unlocked One X that had a T-Mobile Germany software build. The phone had a T-Mobile boot up screen and was full of T-Mobile crapware in German. If you are selling a real unlocked international HTC One X then it shouldn't have any carrier branding whatsoever. Luckily enough I flashed a custom rom shortly after but it was quite annoying to not receive what I paid (proabably too much) for.

4good price for the decent phone
By onelazyguy
DO NOT BUY THIS PHONE. IT IS EXTREMELY SLOW AND YOU HAVE TO PUSH HARD TO MAKE IT RESPOND. THE SCREEN IS PLASTIC LIKE AND THE SHELL IS CHEAP PLASTIC LIKE ALSO. WHEN SOMEONE CALL YOU, IT TAKE LIKE 3 SECOND FOR THE SCREEN TO SHOW UP AND YOU CAN BARELY HEAR ANYTHING. DON'T BUY THIS PHONE!

4Great For Wifi
By Griz
I have a pay as you go plan and didn't want to go to the expense of a data plan. I wanted a smart phone with a large screen but I wasn't about to pay over $500 for an unlocked name brand phone. I just wanted to have a decent phone that could utilize the WiFi at Starbucks and be able to download and listen to music and books and take advantage of the Android Apps. This phone is exactly what I was looking for. No, it doesn't have 4G or a capacitive multi-touch screen but it's a great phone for the money. It works great on WiFi and the resistive screen works just fine. you won't even notice the difference unless you're used to an expensive IPhone. This phone also has GPS, Email and lots of other fun applications. It's well made and it's a clone in form of the HTC HD7 so you can get skins, cases, etc. for the HTC. This phone has met and exceeded my expectations.Note: The instruction manual is not very informative, it's in very small print, and is poorly translated from Chinese however, the functions are pretty intuitive and it didn't take me long to figure out how to set up and use all the functions. It might be a little intimidating if this is your first phone.

5Lots of features in such a small package
By emptystreets130
I recently purchase a white version of the Mini Pro for a friend and got around to playing with it. All I got to say is that I'm amazed with the amount of feature and build quality that this phone has; which has got me jealous and I just order one.I'm just gonna touch on a few key features. Specs can be founded online.3" HVGA capacitive touchscreen - highly responsive and clear pictures showing vivid colors. Granted the screen is small but everything comes out in great detail. Best of all, the screen is glass. That's right; it's not plastic but the 3" screen is glass.Sliding Keyboard - slide open and closed smoothly and firmly. No flimsy construction here. The keys are space out nicely for your thumbs to type away.Battery life - This point is kinda useless since everyone has different usage. My friend who makes a lot of calls and text a lot of people with very light use of the internet manage to get a little over a day. I'm guessing if you use the phone a lot for music, videos, web and so on, you might need to bring a charger with you.5MP camera - This phone has a front facing camera and well as the rear. Both produces sharp, clean image. Not that great in low light, even with flash. Flash only on the back of phone.Construction - The build quality is great. This phone is a little heavy (a little heavier than lets say an iPhone)but it has a nice solid feel. The heaviness is expected from a sliding keyboard phone. The body is made out of plastic but the screen is glass. The Mini Pro is small so it may be easy to lose. The interface is nice. You have four corners to throw your stuff in along with the desktop to throw more apps on. This is Sony's own interface. All of it is running on Android 2.3.3. No lag at all thanks to 512MB Ram it has on board and the snappy 1 GHz processor. It has enough storage space for all your apps, 400MB to be precise, but less than that due to the other apps and system files on the phone. One last note, the battery cover is hard to take off. I had to use a little force to get it off. I'm not held responsible if you damage your phone.Update 6/7/2012I just updated the OS on this phone to ICS 4.0.4 and I have to say, this new OS brings new life to this phone. It's faster and more responsive. If you haven't updated, you should do so now.

5love it
By ekkimeira
I have had a Sony cell phone for years and have been very happy with it, but lately it started losing power and just not working well. i travel a lot and often switch SIM cards so i wanted an unlocked phone. i looked at gazillion different options but finally settled on this one (xperia mini pro SK17A) and it is wonderful. i was instantly able to insert my SIM and hook into the service provider (tmobile in the US) i didn't have to sign up for a 2 year(slavery)plan and no need for the expensive data plan as it works just fine on WIFI. It is easy to use and small enough to fit nicely in one hand, an issue for me as i found most phones to be too big and clunky. i also like to have the option of a full keyboard as touch screen texting can be very annoying, but both work really well on this phone. the only very minor drawback is that the battery drains quickly and it has to be charged every day, but that is generally how all smart phones are, i.e. mini computers so they use more power.

4Good things in a small package
By JFC
I bought this phone, the black model, direct from Amazon for about $270 and have been getting used to it the past several weeks. It's my first Android smart phone, so I'm having to learn both the new handset and a new OS, after having used E-Series Nokia phones for many years. One of the things that drew me to this model was its hardware keyboard (in addition to the on-screen ones it offers in both portrait and landscape modes). With the Nokia E-Series Symbian models being discontinued, there aren't a great number of quality, high performing smartphone choices with hardware keyboards. But after doing a lot of research, I settled on this one, and thus far am glad I did.I'm a tall guy with large hands and long fingers, but the keyboard on the MiniPro works fine for me. The keys have a firm click-type (non-audible) touch and are nicely spaced and tactile. The slide out mechanism as others have noted is solid and firm, no jiggering or bending when the keyboard is extended.I too found the build quality to be quite good, notwithstanding the plastic case materials. Despite reading the comments in prior reviews here, I had no trouble snapping off the back of the phone to access the battery and SD card and SIM card slots. On my model at least, the back snaps on and off securely, but easily. I was never worried I was going to break anything trying. When closed, the size of the phone is surprisingly small in terms of height and width, but it is a bit chubbier than non-hardware-keyboard phones as you'd expect. But it feels good in the hand, is easy to hold and handle and doesn't feel slippery. That said, it easily fits inside a man's shirt or pants pocket.Even though it's not a dual core processor, the response of the phone is swift and smooth, no lagging or stuttering. The screen image quality is quite good, though at about 3 inches, you wouldn't want it any smaller. But I have ready access to desktop and laptop PCs most of the time, so I wasn't looking to carry around a large screen in my pocket.I do have a couple of gripes about the phone, though.--One is the design of the small plastic cover of the micro USB slot that's used for data connections and charging the phone. It's a small plastic piece that you have to pry open with your fingernail and pivot out from its resting place. Then once open, the little plastic piece just hangs loosely and dangling there attached by a very tiny connector. A sliding cover or some other approach would have been much better for an otherwise elegant phone. The way the little cover hangs there annoyingly, I almost want to cut it off and just leave the micro USB port uncovered.--Another is when I set up the phone, I followed the very minimal paperwork included in the box, and used common sense based on my familiarity with computers and smartphones. But when I tried to use the main camera on the phone, the images were all blurry, even after I cleaned the exterior lens surface with a soft camera lens cleaning cloth. So I ended up taking the phone into a Sony shop to have them take a look at that problem. And to my surprise, they said there had been a small (I assume protective) plastic film sheet covering the main camera lens. I swear, I never saw it, and didn't see any info about it on the phone's setup info. But once removed, the camera takes very nice photos for a 5 mp snapper with auto focus.Other misc things, the sound quality and loudness on calls and playing music etc. I found quite good. I liked the feature in the camera whereby you can focus and take a phone just by tapping anywhere on the view screen (apart from also having a physical camera shutter key). Also the accelerometer that automatically shifts the phone's display between portrait and landscape works smoothly and quickly.Add in full access to the Android Market, good video recording, FM radio included, a 2 GB memory card included, the included Flash video playing capability, WiFi N, and stereo Bluetooth, and Sony has packed a lot of powerful capabilities into this small package. It's not the slimmest or most elegant or highest specced Android smartphone on the market, but it's a great phone at a great price, especially if you're buying it out of your own pocket and not on a carrier contract discount, that pretty much can do anything you want to do for business/work or for personal entertainment.PS - Just as a quick follow-up, now Jan. 2013 and this phone is still going strong and performing well. Just last month got the Ice Cream Sandwich OS via download, and it seems to work OK with that, at least for me. Everything I said above in my original review I still hold to.One thing I managed to solve was the dangling micro-USB slot cover issue. Following another user's suggestion I read on one of the Sony forums, I took an Xacto knife and cut/shaved off a tiny portion of the interior part of the cover (the part that fits into the micro USB slot cover). I DIDN'T cut off the dangling cover itself. But after trimming the inside tab a bit, the cover now can be inserted and removed with my fingernail much easier, and no longer drives me crazy as it did when I first got the phone. Sony, unfortunately, just made the original cover fit a bit too snugly. But that's something any user can easily remedy.Lastly, having used the phone for more than a year now, I want to comment also on what a good camera it has for just a 5 MP model. As anyone familiar with such things knows, it's not automatically the case that a higher number of megapixels is going to mean better quality images. There are lots of mobile phones out there with 8+ MP camera, but read the reviews, and you'll see many, many produce noisy, artifacted, oddly shaded photos. After having had a year to compare my mobile phone's photos with those of friends and family members using other smart phones, I'd certainly say the MiniPro's photos are among the best quality that I've seen.

4The best handset i ever had.
By Enrique Lopez Ambia
The best handset i ever had from a functional point of view is really solid and stable. Very fast and the applications shipped with are great specially Ultra Sense.the only two not very good areas are:* the cover for the sim card and for the battery are very thing and delicate.* the battery may drain off very fast on heavy usage. If you have more than 2 bateries the problem with the covers arises as you have to change the battery constantly.* I could not find external chargers for additional batteries.Besides that is even better than an iPhone 4.

5Wife loves it.

I currently live overseas and cell phones can be quite expensive. Since I am in the military, the contract route wasn't an option and they don't exactly have "military clauses" on the contracts here in Europe for us. The wife was really wanting an iPhone 4, but I couldn't see spending $900 or so for a phone. However, we did stumble across an HTC phone display here and I really liked what I saw when we picked up the HTC Desire HD. I spent a lot of time comparing between this and the Samsung Galaxy. The Galaxy was similiary priced at the time and had a beautiful display, but felt cheap when compared to the solidily designed Desire HD.I personally haven't used the phone much, but the wife absolutely loves it.I do have one complaint about the phone. The battery cover doesn't seem to slide back on right after you intially install the battery. The factor condition of the phone can't be replicated when you reinsert the cover. It's no biggie, since we have it in a cover. However, it was one of those things that irked me considering how much money we spent on it.

1HTC DESIRE HD JUST STICKS TO EDGE
By Samson Keenja
I have just received my HTC Desire HD, this is my third phone from HTC the last being HTC HD7. From its description the desire seemed to be another great phone from HTC however after two days of using it, I have different opinion because it constantly sticks to edge network even in areas with 3G network. As a result internet connection is painfully slow, while viewing internet videos is almost impossible (unless you have nothing else to do apart from waiting). This phone ought be different, it should be able to automatically select the best available network.

1Needs Recalled
By Kyle J. Karwatski
This is a PRODUCT REVIEW, not a SELLER REVIEW.This phone, Huawei Ascend II (M865c), should not be being sold to anyone. The model that works through Straight Talk has issues with network connectivity.Half of the people who purchase this phone experience these problems. When the phone is rebooted, the device fails to connect to the tower and is stuck in an inaccessible mode while the only thing displayed is a loading sign. This has been experienced by multiple of the same phone across multiple states. (They sent me replacements that all had the same issue)The program inside the phone is called com.huawei.android.keypadprogramming. This program crashes from the issue.---So, you may not experience these issues immediately, but after you reboot a few times, you will experience this.Straight Talk is aware of the issue. The deny being aware, however one of their employees (Vincent) informed me that it is well known with recent Huawei devices on the Sprint network (this phone operates on the Sprint network). The phone manufacturer is also aware of this but will not release a patch for the phone because the cost outweighs the benefits for them.---Regarding Straight Talk customer service... Please demand your money back if you have this issue. They (the managers on the support lines) have lied to me many times over the past few months and I have not receive a refund. Please do not be fooled by them. Ask for corporate.---Regarding these sellers on Amazon: This phone is not worth $140. You can buy it brand new from Straight Talk for $100... But, obviously, you don't want to do that.---I hope this helps you make a decision on your phone choice.

1The Most Abysmal Piece of Crap EVER!
By Lamarr Blocker
Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R26O90PVU8B8UE This is the review of the Huawei Ascend II:Pros:Unlimited $45 plan, I can talk until my battery goes flat or until I get blue in the face.Cons:Everything else about the bloody thing.Synopsis:I bought this phone on a whim, and I have got to say, even my old phone would love me more than this crap. I couldn't say to anyone, even my worst enemies to buy this phone; it is that bad. Upon start up, the phone needs to be restarted. One night, it took me 2 hours to actually be able to make a call. This phone is a death trap, like for real.Huawei (wa-way) is not getting annay (any) of my monay (money), hunnay (honey). If they think so, the devil is a liar.
