Good Phone!

In short, I am very happy with this phone. When I got it, I was a little surprised to see that it came from Europe, as it had a European charger. There was an EU to US power converter inside the package (but outside of the actual phone box). Another thing that is important to know, is that this phone IS unlocked. For some reason, amazon doesn't make that very clear on their website. I took a gamble and assumed that it was unlocked, and ordered the phone. The phone works great with my t mobile sim card! very happy!

So Happy!!!

So far this is the best purchase I have made in quite some time. I was so tired of paying so much for my cellphone through "Big Red" AND constantly worrying about having a charged phone. I decided it was time to switch to something smaller, more simple, and hassle free. You see, I'm kind of weird: I seem to use my cell phone for calling and texting. I don't need to run 1000 high-speed apps and play all the latest games. I need to make calls, send texts, and occasionally look something up on the internet or use a quick app like for Redbox or something. I can do all that with this phone, and get this; my phone lasts for 5 days without having to recharge. Love this phone! And no contract; I can swap out SIM cards, take it overseas, etc. Buy it!!! By the way, I "downgraded" from a Droid 2 Global.

Decent entry level android phone

I have been testing the Galaxy Y and it's a decent entry level android phone for $125.Pros:- Camera- Android 2.3 Gingerbread (have not heard of any update to ICS 4.x)- Full functioning Google play market for apps.- SD slot that takes up to 32 gb (I am testing with 8gb)- Wifi and bluetooth- Good battery life. The phone will easily take you through the day with average use.Neutral:- Okay specs for a budget phone. Has 832MHz CPU.- Okay call quality.Cons:- Small size with - 3.0 ins- Low resolution screen 240 by 320- No front-facing camera for video conferencingOverall, a decent entry android phone for the price. Would definitely be a winner for $99. If there may be the slightest reason to use a dual sim phone then I would suggest you check out the dual sim version of this phone Samsung Galaxy Y Duos S6102 Android Dual SIM Quadband Unlocked

didnt buy on amazon

the phone is well built.....milspec android if you wanna call it that....the internet is easy to navigate and the motoblur is rather handy for people with accounts on virtually everything facebook myspace yahoo etc.......i have never had a problem with the system on the phone nor with it randomly cutting off i have the otter box on it and the phone to be truthful is bulky with the case but other than that i have no complaints....i use this phone excessively and bout 8 to 10 hours through work it still has half battery by the end of the day if you dont run useless crap all the time then the phone will not die and the 3g is actually functioning unlike alot of verizons phones but all in all its worth the buy even after seeing the price on amazon...(which is much less than what i paid) i wouldnt consider it a waste of money android worth the money by far

OS Seems Unstable

This isn't a bad phone. I like the fact that it has the little touch pad as well as a slide out keyboard. These features, I think, give it an edge over my friends who have Droid X phones. It makes it easier to type as well as navigate around the screen without accidentally clicking on things.Things I don't like so much:I have had to do a factory reset on my phone about 5 times now... and I've had it since July (7 months). Every once in a while, all of the applications that aren't preinstalled will force close like crazy and you have to uninstall and reinstall all of them... Or I'll notice that my lock feature and home button refuse to work. Because of the design of the phone, I get stuck on screens if I cannot hit "Home." Also, the only way around this and the lock issue is to download apps which override the phone's lock and home features. Then the buttons magically start to work again, but this usually triggers all of my apps to suddenly corrupt and force close.Also, because it's a touch screen and maybe the shape of my face is weird, while I'm talking on the phone it will randomly hit the speakerphone key.In conclusion; they need to patch the OS or something because it's obviously not stable and I know I'm not the only one who has had the same issue. The crashes are something I can live with. The factory reset leaves all of my contacts and since all my personal info is stored in my Google account, all I lose is the installed apps and data from them. For me, it's no big deal. Just annoying. Otherwise, it's a pretty good phone. The speakerphone thing is something that I can overlook, be more careful, and maybe see if there is an app to lock the button or something.

Seriously, this phone is great.

I purchased this phone used. I really can't complain! Seriously, for the price it has amazing features and can do everything you could want and more! Install the "Google Maps" app for Free and it turns your phone into a GPS! There are some minor issues with the navigation but most of it can be fixed if you tinker with the settings. Motoblur makes it simple to keep up with news and facebook/twitterIMPORTING CONTACTS: My old phone wasn't a smart phone so I thought I was screwed when it came to importing contacts. However I was able to use verizon's web page to remotely upload my old contact list which vorizon kept for me, Verizon's web site gives you the option to download your contact list in a "CVS" file. All you have to do is download the contact list in a CVS file and then connect to your "Motoblur" account online and upload the CVS file as directed. Simple as that! The website remotely updated my contact list on my phone!AUDIO / MP3 playerMy Ipod touch has been giving me problems lately... So I simply uploaded my music to the SD card on this phone and I use it as my MP3 player also. Seriously, it's pretty awesome. Thanks to a headphone jack on the phone it really makes it simple to listen to my MP3s.Bottom line... Sure it is not the latest and greatest, but regardless it is pretty great. For the price you get a LOT of features and functionality. I gave it 5 stars because my expectations weren't very high because I realized that I wasn't paying 700$'s for a phone without a contract. Seriously, you get your money's worth with this phone. Plus it looks good and it's not very common.

Fits well in your pocket, but the touchscreen is sometimes hard to handle

This was my first smartphone. The apps of the android system are great, but if you download many of them your system is likely to crash a lot. The touchscreen may be cool at first, but sometimes simple tasks such as dialing or saving a number may become annoying, especially if the system gets slower and slower due to apps. The battery life is not too good. I have to recharge the phone daily even if I didn't make a long phone call. I am satisfied with the camera, which produces very good photos in my opinion. What makes this phone great is its size, look and the camera. Although the size makes this phone pretty handy, the touchscreen and the system may not be very convenient especially for basic usage such as phone calls and sms. All in all, I still like it but I think I should have bought the version with integrated keypad.

Fits in your 5th pocket of your jeans.

The phone is really a nice size in the world , bigger is always better.Set up with ATT was automatic. Everything worked perfect. It fit easy in the 5th pocket of the jeans, even sideways, testing was a snap after installing a free keyboard(hate T9) the battery was excellent 2-3 days easy with normal use, my Aria could not get even one day.Pictures are very sharp and clear, much nicer then my iphone4, sound is great and reception was awesome always had at least 3 bars out of 4.All around a great phone, however I love phones and sent it back for a newer toy.I would buy this phone again, in a heart beat.

Near to Perfect Smart Phone, overall better than any nearest Rival

I have just completed two month of owning of Samsung Galaxy Nexus and I have no doubt declaring I am very happy with this. This is the best smart phone on the market for the time being until iPhone 5 or Samsung Galaxy S3 releases. I had iPhone 4 for 2 months and I like many other people who could not be satisfied with beauty and fruit brand alone threw that 'dumb beauty' . For me that was more of a 'show off' rather than of practical use.Apple itself in a recent patent suit directed against google termed this as the "most creditable competitor to iPhone'. Apple co founder which is not a apple employee anymore and hence free to speak truth freely declared iPhone easy to use but 'Android more feature rich'. He dismissed Siri totally saying he could not understand how come internet could be needed to make a call through Siri. Do I need to say more now? If yes then here is the detail review:Like ->(1) Bigger HD contour display-> Though you can distinguish between pixels while looking closely unlike iPhone's Retina display, Nexus's display is gorgeous. Colors are very vibrant and rich. Black is real black (because of Super AMOLED display technology) which creates the whole difference.The Screen is large and with medium hands I can reach to the whole screen stretching the thumb or fingers. Sometimes I tend to use the other hand (luckily I have two hands and both are fully functional so can't complaint).Because of bigger screen this phone is more useful or convenient for what Apple invented iPhone for ie Browsing web, playing games, watching videos. And because of this I tend to depend lesser on PC/laptop/tablet. With bigger screen, power and customization of Android OS this phone is closer to our old friend PC/laptop.**I run the same HD video both on nexus and iPhone 4S and nexus one was better to watch.**(2) Soul-> The soul of this device is ICS OS which is now equal to iOS in terms of user friendlessness but is better because it is much more customizable and hence you feel completely in control and power. This is different feeling than using dumb iOS. After using ICS I really struggled to use the iOS or same iOS based apps. ICS is lightning fast and smooth.Face unlock, NFC, android beam and google wallet (not available on Verizon version) are very cool. Face unlock works perfectly.Built-in Data usage monitor is very helpful for not letting you go above your data limit.-> Mine is international unlocked version which within a week got automatically updated to 4.0.2 from 4.0.1.This has Best notification, better customization for web browsing.Ohhhhhhhh... did I tell you android has taken two steps which is miles ahead of time and going to change the things completely? (i) No Physical button-> The buttons are in fact part of OS itself and function well. Hence the buttons can now be context specific and smarter. They change their position depending on how you are holding the phone or what you are doing. While watching video they disappear completely giving you the whole screen for watching, and yes they will reappear on appropriate place when you need them. (ii) Same OS for all devices: Unlike Apple now same application can run on any device running on ICS. For apple the applications need to be written separately both for iPhone and iPad. That's why Apple has lesser applications on iPads. With new approach of ICS now people will just write once and run it anywhere hence number of apps is going to get multiplied faster on ICS.(3) Eco System (Apps)-> Android eco system (or app market) is there on par with Apple eco system. In the same period I have installed more applications than I did on iPhone 4 (because most applications are free compared to Apple). I am more functional on Android than I was on iPhone 4. There is nothing which I want and its not there. And yes now google going to start monitoring of applications so less argument against Android apps.(4) Form factor-> I like its form factor more than of iPhone's. Countered makes it more convenient to use and keep in the pocket. Now to me iPhone is just any another device and I look on iPhone with pity.(5) Battery-> I need to charge it once a day with low to moderate usage which is what other iPhone 4S customers are also doing. And if you are going to use it like laptop you will need to charge it more (is not this same with your laptop?). Better part is unlike iPhone you can carry batteries and change it easily. No complaint here.(6) Reception-> Decent.(7) Call quality-> Nice.(8) Volume/Speaker-> Low, could be helped with volume control plus application.(9) More social-> Very well integrated with google.(10). Build-> Except the battery cover everything else is of high quality. I don't care about plastic versus metal debate. iPhone even with metal and corning glass are equivalently fragile and people have been reporting iPhone being broken having dropped just from 12 feet or so. And with gorilla glass on both ends iPhone 4 is more fragile. Remember gorilla glass is just scratch resistant not damage resistant.(11) Typing-> is a breeze and it seems to read you mind and hence make typing a different experience than on iPhone. And big screen helps every here again.Unfortunately this phone decided to do have some deliberate suicidal traits perhaps to avoid wiping away other Samsung devices. So here are the things which could have been improved upon:(1) Speaker-> Could have been better (Minor+ issue)(2) Reception-> Though not much complaint, Could have been just a 'little' better (Very Minor issue).(3) Camera-> Could have been better definitely.(4) External Storage-> Either they should have allowed adding external storage or given the device with more alternated with respect to storage capacities. (Minor issue)(5) Display-> Should not be able to distinguish pixels (Minor issue but this should be ultimate goal for the display)Conclusion-> This is the best smart phone on the market for the time being if you can live with some minor issue with volume. And all issues reported so far with this device seem to be software issues and should get corrected with updates or third part applications.

I owned and lost a Samsung Galaxy S2. So I purchased the Galaxy Nexus as a replacement.Pros:1) You will always get the latest Android version the moment Google releases it, instead of waiting for half a year for Samsung, HTC, LG or other manufacturers to port it over. Why wait when you can experience the latest features such as 'Google Now'?2) Bigger screen than S2 - comparable to S3, Super AMOLED, but at a much friendlier price.3) Interface is much smoother and slick. You can get any better than this. Jellybean's project butter really solves the issue.4) No physical front buttons like the S2 which may be prone to defect after some time. Best of all, none of that S2's Vlingo voice nonsense which is irritating to say the least.5) Copying files to Nexus is as easy as plugging in USB and using windows explorer. Compare this to S2's nightmare of using their Kies software or Kies Air to transfer files. This is such a relief to me that I would buy this phone just because of this.6) Battery life is reasonable so far. Google always tries to improve battery life with each Android OS release, so Nexus being the first phone to get the updates probably mean improvements in battery life as soon as they are available.Cons:1) No external microSD slot. This in my opinion could actually be a pro because if you lose the nexus phone, like I did, no one can access your data on the microSD card.

Samsung Google Nexus android phone

This phone is my first encounter with any android product. Switching from a Blackberry smartphone, it is not easy to operate this one but the few things I have found out (trial and error or tasking my young nieces) work very well. With the Nexus Galaxy I speak my destination in the navigation, the phone shows the address and takes me there, not minding my "accent". The Google road maps are clear and give excellent directions.The battery life is not great but I do have more than one program running together.I guess if I know how to use the bluetooth to copy direct folders from my blackberry to the android, I will review again with top marks.

Everything I wanted and a bag of chips

You can't play Angry Birds or update your Facebook status, but this phone let's you do what a phone is supposed to, call your wife.I love this phone, which is actually known as the Avatar ET-1. After ordering it on Amazon from Victor International, it arrived in a few days (which was an extremely pleasant suprise)I put in my prepaid T-Mobile SIM card and the phone worked instantly (which was another pleasant suprise).It does everything I had hoped for, which is: Make calls, while not having to carry a phone in my pocket or belt.A little background on why I bought this phone:I love technology, but never got into the whole carrying a phone thing, especially now-a-days with phones like the iPhone (with are pretty big if you think about it). If I wanted to surf the web, I could do it at home on my Ipad or Laptop. I had never felt the desire to pay $50+ a month for a internet plan or $50+ for a cell phone plan (which could add up to over $1000 a year). For the last few years, I have been using a T-mobile prepaid plan, and last year only paid $5 for my prepaid plan (so I could keep my minutes). But...because I hate carrying a phone, my wife would get upset with me because she could never reach me, and there were times I had wished I had a phone handy to make a quick call. So, I decided to surf the web (from my laptop) to see if there was a wrist cell phone. I looked all over, and felt this was the phone that best suited me. One of the major reasons I bought this one instead of other wrist phones was that it had buttons for dialing (not just touchscreen). I didn't want to pull out a stylus everytime I wanted to make a call. To be honest, I also love the movie Avatar, and figured James Cameron wouldn't lend his movie's name to just any watch.Calling is easy, but it took a day or so to figure out how to navigate quickly, upload my ringtone MP3's (from a micro SD card) and enter my phone numbers. The touchscreen works, but I prefer using buttons to navigate. I still haven't tried out the MP3 player, and I plan on testing out the Bluetooth when I have time.In closing, I finally feel I have a phone that is cool and practical. I feel like I'm on Star Trek, when I make calls now. You should see the reactions I get from people (from high schoolers to grandparents). They are amazed that it works so well. They also comment on how much more sense it is to have a phone readily available, rather than digging into their pocket to answer a call.Gotta go, my wife is calling :)

Fantastic gadget and conversation starter

This is a MUST HAVE for all gadget and/or cell phone fanatics. I bought a more expensive model with virtually identical operating system a couple of years ago and paid almost double for just a slightly different keyboard layout. This one is simpler looking but has all the desirable features. Call quality is excellent, storage capacity via micro SD card exceeds specifications. I have a 16 GB MSDHC installed with almost 1000 mp3 files and have taken several acceptable quality photos I could not have captured fast enough if I had to fish my camera phone out of a backpack or even back pocket!The cell watch attracts attention everywhere I go. I am constantly using the phrase "Yes, it's really a cellphone, and it keeps pretty good time, too!"When I'm out running around in shorts and a t-shirt and i don't want to carry a phone or risk losing one, this is the ideal combination of wristwatch, mp3 player, and cell phone that I can wear to go biking, run into the grocery store, or anywhere else. The sound quality is just what you expect from a small package, but the volume is sufficent to make calls and listen to music without a headset if you need to.I have called friends and family out of state and had them report no difference in sound quality even when using the speakerphone, though I more commonly use a Bluetooth when I plan on making calls in advance. Pairing is simple and there are multiple profiles to store preferences for indoor, outdoor, meeting room, and Bluetooth profiles so you can customize the volume and ringtone specifications in advance for quick changes. When I walk into a meeting, a couple of key presses makes sure I will get vibrate only and no key tones, outdoors I get loudest possible ring and simultaneous vibration. Great features I don't have on my $300 smartphone.At about $80, this is cheaper than some standard candybar or flip style phones with more and better features, and it fits comfortably on your wrist. I usually charge mine every day, but I have left it on for three days at a time on more than one occasion and I've never run the battery all the way down. It comes with a spare battery that I keep charged and in the car, but I've never needed it.Virtually no way to improve on this with current technology available in the states, but I expect these will continue to get a little smaller, as they have been for a few years now. Terrific product!!Only way to make me any happier would be for Amazon to offer replacement chargers and earbuds, but reasonable people expect the "starter kit" packaging with import goods. As more people switch over to cell pone wristwatches, the marketplace will demand that sellers make more accessories available.

Ok product

This is a pretty cool thing. If you show it to your friends, they will imidiatley be impressed and want one. If you really like techy things, this is definitely not the product for you. I used att service, and this watch only worked outside with no trees around. And, unless you live in china, you cant use it's Internet services. And there's no wifi integration, so you can't use the watch that way. The watch was pretty cool, until the band of it started breaking. It is a very rubbery and soft band, so it rips easily. There's also only one game. Don't get this unless you like really simple things from china that only work for a couple months.
